about the event
Join us for an Artisan Afternoons at Mary Rose Collection! Presented by Purple Star Studio, these meet-the-artist pop-up events will feature a different artist each Saturday from May thru September! Join us as we explore the range of materials & techniques our featured artists use to create their work, showcasing a different medium each month.
September is CLAY Month!
Saturday, September 9th | 10am-3pm Meet the artist: Greg Lamont | Lamont Pottery
Greg has been making pottery in Ames for over 20 years. His pottery reflects Korean and Japanese folk pottery traditions and their influence on western pottery making. Believing that a substantial part of the beauty of handmade pottery lies in its use, Greg creates vessels intended to take an active part in one’s daily life, through the preparation and serving of food and drink and in decorating one's surroundings. Greg's pottery is wheel-thrown stoneware and is fired to vitrification. Vessels intended for food or drink are food safe, dishwasher safe and safe for use in conventional and microwave ovens.
Stop by to meet the maker, learn something new, and shop handmade art!
This event is one of three Artisan Afternoons in September, featuring CLAY as a creative medium.
An Artisan Afternoon guest artist series features artists showcasing their talents through a pop-up style display of their work at Mary Rose Collection in downtown Perry. Learn more about their process through demonstrations or mini make and take workshops, depending on the medium! This is a come and go "meet the artist" type event. So bring a friend and shop a little, learn a lot, and have some fun, too!
